Because it's about time SOMEONE said it. Sally and Amy both have very similar traits, they simply use them in different ways. I am so sick and tired of the hypocrisy and immaturity of the fandom. I mean, it's pretty bad when people flame my pictures of Sally and/or Amy for no reason other than they dislike the character
Grow up. Learn how to respect those who don't agree with you. Enough of your immature flamebait and flaunting of hate art and hate clubs. And especially quit picking on those of us who support BOTH of them.Edit/ Just to clarify since a lot of folks are pointing this out, I mainly added that they both have Mary-Sue traits to cover all the bases, as many haters rage about how, say, Sally being both the princess and Sonic's love interest makes her a sue, or that Amy is a sue because of things like how she obsessively chases Sonic. Yes, these can be the traits of a Mary-Sue. However, I firmly believe that you could technically accuse almost any protagonist and/or primary character of being a sue, as certain things have to revolve around them certain ways in order to push the story forward. There is also the fact that "Sue" traits can be cancelled out by a smart writer who knows how to inject depth into the character. Sally and Amy have both shown depth of character, and both of them have genuine flaws. Neither one of them is perfect. To me, this is evidence that they are, in fact, not Mary-Sues. /Edit
Edit 2/ Guys, enough trying to be white knights, okay? This stamp was never meant to tell people they need to like both characters. It's okay if they dislike one or both. The whole point is that arguing over which is "better" and spreading hate is pointless. They're entitled to their preference and aren't obligated to explain why. /Edit 2

Exactely. In the comics, you can see clearly how Sally is always caring about Amy, even worrying about her education; her relationship with her is very different than the ones she has with Mina. Meanwhile she let Mina enter the Freedom Fighters for a short time, is because she wanted Mina to learn the truth of what really means to enter here and the sacrifices you have to make. With Amy, it's different. Knowing how she is, she didn't let her enter because she had to earn it, and after showing her courage in many issues, she earned Sally's respect, showing clearly that she wanted to be a Freedom Fighter not because of Sonic, because like the rest of the members, she wanted to protect Mobius. And after that, both of them start to became very close, to the point that Amy accepts that Sally is with Sonic, showing how much she cares about the happiness of both of them, or even when they break up in some issues before, she isn't angry with Sally, because she understands the situation.
Or after the mini arc special with Tails, Bunnie and Antoine, you can see in the last pannels of the last issue of said special, that Amy and Sally are sitting next to each other, talking between them meanwhile they wait for them to come, and by I could see, they were very comfortable at the presence of each other; small scenes like that shows how good friends they are, becoming more noticeable after the Genesis Wave, in where they are like best friends, so I don't understand why people want them to hate each other.
Just because they want one of them to end with the protagonist? Is like the case of Amourshippers and Pokeshippers, they want Serena and Misty to hate each other. Like Amy, Misty has a temper, but if she were able to meet Serena in canon I don't think she would be able to hate her, I mean; Misty can be very jealous from what I saw in the first seasons, so maybe she could be a bit jealous and maybe Serena too from what I saw in some episodes from XY and XYZ, but both of them have changed with the time, so I think they could be good friends or at least accept that Ash maybe likes a certain person.
So like I said, Sally and Amy are very supportive with each other, so if Amy was able to accept that Sally was with Sonic, why couldn't Sally accept that Amy was with Sonic? I bet she would support them, no matter what; because unlike the case of Mina and Fiona, Amy is like her sister and she knows that Sonic would be very happy at her side too.
